Regulatory peptides (SP, NT, VIP, PHI, ENK) of autonomic nerves in the guinea pig heart.

Abstract

By the use of immunohistochemistry the occurrence of SP-, NT-, VIP-, PHI- and ENK-immunoreactive nerve fibers in the guinea pig heart is analysed. The results obtained demonstrate distinct innervation patterns of the different peptidergic fibers with regard to the cardiac target cells (coronary smooth muscle, myocardiocytes, nodal cells).
