Dependence of pharmacokinetic parameters on the body weight.

M Weiss, W Sziegoleit, W Förster.

Abstract

By employing the theory of biological similarity, equations concerning the dependence of the clearance on the body weight are being presented for different elimination processes. Changes in the biological half-life depending on the body weight are demonstrated by way of the one and two compartment model. The discussion of the results based on our own data as well as those derived from literature shows that it is very ofter possible to estimate the weight-depending differences between half-lives of various species by simple empirical formulas.
