Tree shrews: unique reproductive mechanism of systematic importance.

Abstract

Tupaia offspring are maintained in a separate nest constructed by the male parent and are suckled by the female only once every 48 hours. The young are nevertheless able to maintain a constant external body temperature of 37 degrees C.
