Maternal effect in dental traits of the house mouse.

P Tenczar, R S Bader.

Abstract

The size of the second and third mandibular molar teeth of inbred mice is altered if the mice are fostered on a different strain. The dental change is opposite in direction to that of body weight. The prenatal and postnatal components of variance are correlated with the develipment histories of the two tooth types.
