Anomalous myelinated nerve fibers in the spiral ligament of the chinchilla cochlea.

P A Santi, A J Duvall.

Abstract

A fascicle of myelinated nerve fibers has been found within spiral ligament tissue of the chinchilla cochlea. The presence of nerve fibers in this region of the cochlea has not been previously reported in any species and its occurrence in the chinchilla is thought to be anomalous.
