Lymphocyte transformation in multiple sclerosis.

H Bartfeld, T Atoynatan.

Abstract

Lymphocytes in cultures of peripheral blood cells from patients with multiple sclerosis showed significant blastogenic transformation in the presence of human brain extract, encephalitogenic myelin basic protein, or human cerebrospinal fluid, but not in the presence of kidney extract. There was no correlation between the degree of activity of the patients' disease and the percentage transformation of their lymphocytes.
