The prolongation of canine renal homograft survival by heterologous serum.

E J Hinchey, J Q Bliss.

Abstract

Heterologous serum was obtained from rabbits that had received repeated intravenous injections of a suspension of intact cells prepared from the thymus glands of puppies. The survival of renal homotransplants in bilaterally nephrectomized dogs treated with a single subcutaneous injection of this serum was significantly longer than the survival of transplants in untreated animals.
