Abstract
This paper presents the results of a clinical study in which a new antimony preparation-a chelate of dimethylcysteine with antimony sodium tartrate ("NAP")-was administered intramuscularly at a total dosage of 2 g (5x400 mg, corresponding to 290 mg of Sb) to 400 patients with schistosomiasis. Among 108 patients in a rural population the treatment was on the whole well accepted (97% completed the intensive course of injections), thus indicating that NAP would be useful for the mass treatment of schistosomiasis.Entities:
