Renal adenomatosis. Report of an autopsy case.

K J Syrjänen.

Abstract

An incidental finding at autopsy of a 72-year-old man was that both kidneys contained more than a hundred small (diameter 1-7 mm) white tumours, which could be classified as benign adenomas both histologically and at electron microscopy. The relationship between renal adenoma and renal adenocarcinoma is discussed, and it is concluded that this case represents a benign condition. The appropriate designation for this new entity is renal adenomatosis.
