Use of mandatory minute volume ventilation in the perioperative management of a patient with myasthenia.

B D Higgs, J C Bevan.

Abstract

The anaesthetic and postoperative management of a patient with established myasthenia gravis, using a mandatory minute volume system (MMV), are described. Before operation the patient was receiving large doses of anticholinesterases and steroids. The anaesthetic and postoperative drug therapy and management were simplified by the use of the MMV system.
