Abstract
Decreased corneal sensitivity and vibratory perception suggesting a diagnosis of polyneuropathy were demonstrated in some of 26 patients who had undergone intestinal bypass surgery. Psychological tests revealed signs of disturbance of the autonomic nervous system. A deficiency of 25-hydroxyvitamin D was demonstrated, clearly related to the frequency of stools and to the weight loss. This deficiency might play a role in the pathogenesis of the polyneuropathy.Entities:
