Effects of chloramphenicol reduction products on hemopoietic precursor cells in vitro.

T L Pazdernik, M D Corbett.

Abstract

This study demonstrates that the nitroso, hydroxamic acid, and acetoxyhydroxamate nitrogenous reduction metabolites of chloramphenicol are not directly toxic to myelopoietic and immunopoietic bone marrow precursor cells as assessed by the in vitro colony-forming cell and precursor plaque-forming cells assays, respectively.
