Abstract
A study of repeat prescription cards in a general practice revealed problems in good record keeping and patient recall. A system involving a repeat register was therefore developed to create an easily accessible practice record and a recall procedure was initiated. Greater control over repeat cards is now possible.Examination of the age and sex of the card-holders showed a high proportion of elderly females. By scrutiny of the contents of the cards, a profile of prescribing in the practice was drawn and this was used as material for discussion of prescribing policy.Finally, the system has potential to monitor patients with chronic diseases where regular medication is essential.Entities:
