Syndrome of unilateral ectromelia, psoriasis and central nervous system anomalies.

C S Shear, W L Nyhan, P Frost, G D Weinstein.

Abstract

A patient presenting with unilateral ectromelia, psoriasiform dermatosis and central nervous system abnormalities has been studied. Four similar cases have been reported in the literature. Autoradiographic studies of the turnover rate of epidermal cells in the patient's affected skin revealed markedly increased proliferative activity which is consistent with the diagnosis of psoriasis. Also consistent with this diagnosis was the response to a therapeutic trial of systemic methotrexate.
