Compact-type growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis strains in serum-soft agar.

K Yoshida, M R Smith, Y Naito.

Abstract

Of 120 Staphylococcus epidermidis strains tested, 25.8% were of the compact type in serum-soft agar. Compact variants showed higher production of metabolites than counterpart diffuse variants.
