Abstract
The predictions of a model for multiseptation in bacteria recently proposed by Paulton are derived mathematically. It is shown that independent of the growth rate, the time between septum formation and cell division is given by t(s) = S . t, where S is the average number of successive division sites and t is the generation time. This result is in good agreement with the experimental data.Mesh:
