Abstract
Disk-type structures found in extracts of porcine brain tissue appear to be required for microtubule assembly in vitro. From the morphology of the disks and the dependence of microtubule assembly on the presence of these structures, we propose that the disks are nucleation centers for the polymerization of microtubule protein.Mesh:
