Ultrasonographic localization of the gallbladder.

P W Callen, R A Filly.

Abstract

A linera echo connecting the gallbladder to the right or main portal vein was seen on ultrasonograms in a high percentage of patients (68%). This echo represents a portion of the main lobar fissure of the liver and appears to be a reliable anatomical indicator of the location of the gallbladder. The anatomical features responsible for this echo are discussed.
