Abstract
Leishmania donovani was isolated by culturing bone marrow aspirates from kala-azar patients, on three types of culture media. The isolation was successful in 88% of the cases. The effects of pH, D-glucose, L-proline and antibiotic concentration in the isolation were investigated. The semi-solid medium used (pH 7.4) with L-proline, was better than the modified NNN media for the primary isolation.Entities:
