The use of radiolabelled T1 ribonuclease to monitor the efficiency of Edman degradations.

D J McKean, G P Smith.

Abstract

A simple radiolabel tracer method is presented for monitoring the efficiency of the first ten cycles of an Edman degradation. This method consists of adding a very small amount of radiolabelled S-carboxymethylated T(1) ribonuclease to the protein to be sequenced, and counting the radioactivity of a small sample from each of the degradative cycles.
