Abstract
An analogue of oxytocin containing a nitro group ortho to the phenolic hydroxyl group of the tyrosyl residue was prepared by nitration of the hormone with tetranitromethane. [2-(3-Nitro-l-tyrosine)]oxytocin was bound by neurophysin although its pharmacological activity was virtually abolished. The oxytocic activity of the analogue on the isolated rat uterus was 1.1i.u./mg.Entities:
