Abstract
Mycobacterium malmoense has been isolated from 11 patients in England and Wales. It was thought to be the cause of pulmonary disease in 9 of them and cervical adenitis in 2. The cultural and biochemical characters of the species are described and its position in relation to the avium-intracellulare complex and the non-chromogenicum-terrae-triviale complex determined by matching coefficients using 88 characters.
