Abstract
Candida albicans injected intravenously into rabbits were rapidly cleared from the bloodstream. Organisms injected into a peripheral vein were predominantly cleared by the lungs; organisms injected into a mesenteric vein were largely cleared by the liver. The isolated, perfused rabbit liver avidly cleared candida organisms from buffer perfusate, but clearance was enhanced when the organisms were suspended in heated normal rabbit serum and was most complete when fresh normal rabbit serum was used as the perfusate.Entities:
