Abstract
Intravenous injection of barbiturates is followed by a depression of the respiratory centre depending on the dose. Blood carbon dioxide increases. This can be measured continuously in the expired air. In the same time blood oxygen modifies. The hypoxia produced by this depressant action was determined by a non-invasive transcutaneous blood gas measurement technique during the induction of anesthesia.Entities:
