Abstract
Thyroid function has been studied in eleven patients with the 'idiopathic oedema syndrome'. Six patients have been shown to have subclinical hypothyroidism associated with the presence of thyroid antibodies. All responded to treatment with sodium thyroxine. Five patients had normal thyroid function, absence of thyroid antibodies and failed to respond to treatment with sodium thyroxine.Entities:
