Abstract
Coronary artery spasm can occur in the presence of excessive alpha-adrenergic tone. A decrease in protective coronary vasodilator substance and enhanced alpha-adrenergic responsiveness, which occurs in the setting of hypothroidism and beta blockade, predisposes to coronary artery spasm.
