Abstract
New Zealand white rabbits were thyroidectomized, then examined for hypothyroidism after 6 to 8 weeks. Serum thyroxine levels were reduced 77% after surgery. This occurred without apparent calcium homeostatic imbalances even though no calcium supplementation was added to the food or water. The advantages of using the animal and procedure are discussed.Entities:
