Abstract
Seven cases of the "locked-in" syndrome are described. This is a disorder in which a conscious, mute patient is completely paralysed apart from some form of eye movement, usually as a result of an infarct in the ventral pons. Such patients are often assumed to be in coma and as a result may be distressed by inappropriate conversation around the bedside.Entities:
