Blood sampling and intravenous injections in Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica).

K L Arora.

Abstract

The suitability of five different sites (brachial, jugular, caudal tibial vein, external dorsal thoracic vein and the heart) were examined for blood sampling and intravenous injections in Japanese quail. In terms of safety, ease of collection, repeated collections or injections, the jugular vein was found to be the most suitable.
