Abstract
Primary genital herpesvirus infection occurring in late gestation may provide the portal of entry for systemic infection. This report describes the clinical events and pathologic findings of lethal disseminated herpetic infection after a primary genital lesion in late gestation and reviews the physiologic changes of pregnancy that may cause the failure of normal defenses against the systemic spread of the virus.Entities:
