Abstract
The infectivity titre of two strains of Herpesvirus hominis was reduced by not more than six log(10) units by 90 minutes' exposure to chlorhexidine at a final concentration of 0.02% at room temperature. Under identical conditions the compound was ineffective against a vaccine strain of poliovirus and against an adenovirus. Experimental conditions are described whereby the toxic effect of the disinfectant on the tissue culture assay systems are minimized.Entities:
