Influence of magnesium ions on porosity of the Bacillus megaterium cell wall and membrane.

R Scherrer, P Gerhardt.

Abstract

The presence of magnesium chloride (0.01 M) caused a relatively small but significant reduction in the equivalent porosity of the protoplast membrane, but not in that of the cell wall, in intact Bacillus megaterium cells.
