Abstract
When injected in admixture with tumor cells, the peptidoglycan extracted from Bacillus megaterium inhibited the growth of a chemically induced fibrosarcoma in syngeneic rats. In some instances, the tumor growth was totally suppressed. Animals rejecting mixed inocula exhibited a tumor-specific immunity. Peptidoglycan was not cytotoxic for tumor cells; it rendered macrophages nonspecifically cytotoxic.Entities:
