Abstract
Glycerol-induced structural changes in multilamellar liposomes (ML) were studied by light and thin-section electron microscopy. It is shown that high concentrations of glycerol induce non-bilayer rearrangements of liposomal lipids in ML. The data obtained are discussed regarding the possible mechanisms of cryoprotector effects on natural (biological) and artificial (liposomal) membranes.Entities:
