The technology of magnetic resonance imaging.

M A Smith.

Abstract

In the clinical use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) it may be more important to understand some of the technical aspects of the imaging technique, rather than the fundamental physical principles. This review, therefore, sets out to present the essential aspects of the technique, including T1 and T2 relaxation times in relation to biological tissue, MRI equipment, pulse sequences, factors affecting image quality and patient throughput.
