[Effect of experimental information and emotional stress on the primary immune response of different strains of mice].

Abstract

Experimentally induced information and emotional stress in mice, resulting from the congestion of the animals, has been shown to cause the suppression of primary immune response to sheep red blood cells (SRBC) in males. The comparative analysis of the character of changes in immune response to SRBC in mice of various strains differing in the intensity of immune response to this antigen is presented. The analysis shows that only prolonged and strong emotional stress produces a considerable immunological defect in CBA mice with highly pronounced response to SRBC. In C57BL mice, normally showing weak response to SRBC, considerable immunodeficiency is observed in cases of both prolonged and comparatively short-term stress.
