The effect of prostaglandins on the isolated internal muscles of the mammalian eye, including man.

G W Alphen, P B Wilhelm, P W Elsenfeld.

Abstract

The effects of PG's on the isolated intraocular muscles were determined in cat, rabbit, monkey and man, as well as their interactions with cholinergic agents and with catecholamines; the effects of PG antagonists; the effects of PG synthetase inhibitors; and the effects of cholinergic and adrenergic blockade and depletion. It is speculated that PG's may be involved in the regulation of the pupil and accommodation.
