Abstract
Twelve atopic dermatitis patients were studied to investigate the relationship between levels of antistaphylococcal immunoglobulin E antibodies in serum and quantitative cultures of Staphylococcus aureus strains from the anterior nares and chronic lesions. A positive correlation was found between logarithmic counts of S. aureus strains from the anterior nares and levels of antistaphylococcal immunoglobulin E in serum. The observation is important for understanding the pathophysiology of atopic dermatitis.Entities:
