Sex and ethnic distribution of borderline personality disorder in an inpatient sample.

Abstract

Among 1,583 psychiatric inpatients, fewer men than women were diagnosed as having borderline personality disorders among whites and blacks but not among Hispanics. No significant differences in the prevalence of borderline personality disorder were found among whites, blacks, and Hispanics.
