Fractures of the upper ankle joint require anatomic functional reposition and stabilisation in operative or conservative way. Prearthrotic alterations following inadequate treatment want secondary reconstructive measures in the early stages, whereas in manifest posttraumatic arthrosis you have to take arthrodesis as alternative treatment into consideration, which shows good results using nowadays reliable technics.
