Abstract
A comparative morphologic study of the male urethra was performed in 5 humans and 11 baboons. The corpus spongiosum is essentially the same in both humans and baboons, forming a definite organ with a lumen lined chiefly by a pseudo-stratified columnar epithelium, a lamina propria, vascular space and smooth muscle, and an investing collagenous layer. Although present in the same anatomical areas there are fewer submucosal and periurethral glands in the baboon.Entities:
