Somatodendritic synapses in the central nucleus of colliculus inferior (CI) in the cat.

A M Paloff.

Abstract

During the ultrastructural investigation of the central nucleus of cat's colliculus inferior (CI) neurons containing synaptic vesicles were encountered. Their perikarya form somatodendritic synapses and occupy presynaptic positions. These neurons were located in the dorsomedial portion of the central nucleus of the CI. On the basis of their electron microscopical appearance and synaptic relationships they might be discriminated as putative interneurons.
