Abstract
A review of hyperparathyroidism and current controversies in diagnosis and management is presented. Accurate diagnosis by the endocrinologist and an experienced surgeon remain the standards for good surgical results. Hyperparathyroidism is a heterogeneous disease, and therapy must be individualized to each patient. Conservative surgical removal of parathyroid tissue is preferred in most patients.Entities:
