Abstract
The gastrointestinal endoscopist should be familiar with the Doctrine of Informed Consent. Although the concept is difficult to apply clinically, a reasonable approach is presented to the endoscopist. The ultimate goals of informed consent are shared decision making and self-determination, but it is important that the endoscopist also consider the potential legal liability when obtaining informed consent.Entities:
