Abstract
It is reported on 61 patients who have been operated on for a "septic kidney". In 30 patients a primary nephrectomy was performed. One of these patients died immediately after the intervention in septic shock. In 31 patients a kidney sparing procedure was carried out, was successful in 80% (during an average observation period of 5.1 years). In most of these cases a transitory nephrostomy was performed. In this group also one patient died postoperatively of urosepsis. The presented data should facilitate the decision to an organ sparing procedure in case "septic kidney".Entities:
