Abstract
The removal of gaseous microemboli by arterial filters involves several physical mechanisms. These mechanisms, the bubble trap and bubble barrier concepts, along with the physics of their operation, are examined. Sample calculations based on actual operating parameters in an extracorporeal circuit are presented.Mesh:
