Abstract
Depression is a common condition among patients receiving medical care but often goes unrecognized by care providers. After discussing research on the prevalence, recognition, and treatment of depression in general health care settings as well as the factors associated with psychological distress among nonpsychiatric patients, this article explores how social workers can help improve the identification and management of depression in such settings.Entities:
