Localized acquired hypertrichosis associated with fractures of the arm in young females. A report of two cases.

M C Harper.

Abstract

Two cases of transient hypertrichosis of the upper extremity in young females associated with closed fractures are presented in support of the concept of the "regional acceleratory phenomenon" as proposed by Frost wherein trauma evokes increased regional blood flow and increased metabolism on the part of all local soft tissues. This abnormality which was of much concern in terms of cosmesis resolved over approximately six months.
