Abstract
In a series of 34 vitrectomies performed over more than three years, sodium hyaluronate was used in a new vitrectomy technique that facilitated the removal of vitreous. Sodium hyaluronate simplified the procedure, eliminated the use of any special surgical instrument, and prevented trauma to the vitreous cavity. No severe postoperative complications developed, and 65% of the patients attained a visual acuity of 20/20 to 20/30.Entities:
