Abstract
Processing techniques using recycle and staging for blood cell collection lead to numerous conceptual design configurations. From a practical viewpoint, many of these schemes can become incongruous. Experimental fractional recoveries with up to six stages are presented, and material balance considerations and process comparisons are made. Isolation of specific leukocyte types, and cell viability effects are studied.Mesh:
